Call for Entries: SXSW Exhibitions

SXSW, LLC seeks proposals from professional visual artists or artist teams to loan existing artwork to be displayed throughout SXSW exhibitions March10-18. Exhibitions are located in the Austin Convention Center, Palmer Event Center, JW Marriott and Hilton Downtown Austin. The intent for the temporary art exhibition is to spotlight artists from across central Texas, cultivate curiosity, spark imagination, and engage SXSW registrants in a meaningful dialogue about Austin’s local art.

Multiple commissions will be awarded. The budget for artwork ranges from $250 to $500 for each artwork. The selected artist(s) will be responsible for development of a budget to include all necessary aspects of design, fabrication and construction including design and permitting, travel expenses, insurance, installation costs, foundation or bases, and any issues around the piece as part of installation or de-installation.

Department of Student Publications

The Department of Student Publications, a subset of the Division of Student Life, is currently seeking a Graphic Designer to create marketing materials for the division. The person in this position will work cross-departmentally to aid with marketing campaigns that may include design of banners, brochures, flyers, posters, logos, advertisements, social media graphics, and various other publications or graphics.


Technical Requirements:

The desired candidate should possess strong project management skills, be self-motivated, require little to no supervision, be able to work in a collaborative environment and be able to maintain client relationships. The candidate should also be advanced in design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.).

General Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a related position
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Exhibit good office etiquette
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Exhibit good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills, both internal and external
  • Observe the confidentiality of data

TSU Employment Opportunity – Art Department Student Worker

The Art Program Student Assistant is a paid position through the department of Fine Arts and/or the Tarleton Intern 2 Learn program.  The hours may vary, but generally fall between 8-12 hours a week.  Hours are flexible.

The qualified applicant must:

Serve as a lab monitor for the computer lab two evenings a week

Be proficient in Photoshop and/or Illustrator to do graphic design and photography for department

Serve as administrator for social media sites, provide content weekly

Be available to hang and strike gallery exhibits on certain weekends

Be available for Fine Arts recruiting events

Clean, prep, organize art studios

Perform service tasks around art department
