Brandie Smith – BFA Exhibition opening Monday 11/2, Brown bag lecture at noon on 11/3

The Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery at Tarleton State University presents the first exhibition in the BFA Senior Exhibition series of Fall 2015. Post Baccalaureate student Brandie Smith will be presenting She, an abstract exploration of memories in paragraphs and photographs, November 1-5 2015. The exhibition will be at the Clyde H. Well Fine Arts Gallery. Brandie is seeking a BFA with a Digital Media emphasis. A lecture will be held November 3rd at noon and a public reception November 4 from 5 to 7pm.

With this body of work Brandie is interested in digging through her memories and expressing them as her truths. The raw memories are presented on the walls using  straightforward, clean text. The photographs overlaying the text are macro images of Brandie’s skin that are reimagined in an abstract way. With this exhibition she is reconnecting with who she is as well as bringing to light the way we connect as human beings. This work is the starting point for Brandie to continue her career as an artist and graphic designer.

The gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information contact gallery advisor Chris Ireland,

This past weekend I was introduced to a cool organization in Dallas called CADD. CADD is the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas. CADD’s mission statement is:

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD) is a non-profit membership organization of galleries formed in 2006 for the purpose of promoting the advancement of contemporary art on all levels. CADD’s members function as an important component of the Dallas art community, providing the means by which artists reach their public and collectors gain access to works of art.

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD) includes the city’s foremost contemporary dealers who are experienced and knowledgeable in their field. Member galleries are committed to represent the highest standards of contemporary art, while recognizing the importance of integrity and responsibility in working with artists, collectors, museum professionals, and the cultural community of Dallas.

Membership to Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD) is by invitation after consultation with the entire membership. To qualify, a gallery must demonstrate professionalism and good standing among colleagues in their field and contribute to the cultural life of the Dallas community.

There are several galleries that make up CADD:
