Lecture and Reception Tommorow (9/9) for Hollis Hammonds: Drawing Details

The Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery of Art proudly presents the first art exhibit of the 2015- 2016 season, Drawing Details, an exhibition by Austin based artist Hollis Hammonds. The exhibit will be on view from August 24th – September 26th. A visiting artist lecture will take place on September 9th at noon in the CHildren’s Theater (FA101) in the Clyde H. Wells Art Center, followed by a reception with the artist at 3:30 pm in the Gallery.

Hollis Hammonds is a Kentucky born artist who has been living and working in Austin, Texas since 2007. Hammonds received her MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 2001, and her BFA in drawing from Northern Kentucky University in 1998. She is a published author and er work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. Currently she is the Chair of the Department of Visual Studies at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. Hollis’s creative practice ranges from detailed drawings to sculptural installations that shift back and forth between reality and fantasy, illustrating disaster-like images of piles of debris, altered landscapes, and broken homes.
