The Art Department is alive and well for international week!! Knut will be heading a class to South Korea this next summer (2015). The class will be South Korea Art Appreciation. The class has a Facebook page and don’t hesitate to contact Knut ( for any further info.

South Korea Art Appreciation

South Korea Art Appreciation is a study abroad class for students to experience artistic styles, periods of art, techniques, and ways of making art different from Western Art. This class will discuss Korean and Asian art that is made from prehistoric times as well as contemporary and digital art making. Students will go to art museums, Korean cinemas, arcades, game and graphic design studios.

Students will be introduced to eastern visual language and the Asian visual components of style.

COURSE OUTCOMES: Build a vocabulary that enables the student to begin to describe and discuss the visual components of art. Gain a general knowledge of the history of Asian artistic production.

CLASS FORMAT/ ATMOSPHERE: Students will have daily lectures in the morning and then visit galleries, studios, artists, and various art activities. Students are encouraged to ask questions. Students will keep a journal or digital journal (blog, flickr or other).
