Visiting Artist lecture – Adam Neese, Thursday September 18

The Department of Fine Arts is pleased to announce the first visiting artist lecture of the 2014 semester.  Photographer and artist Adam Neese will be presenting his work on  Thursday, September 18th at noon in FA room 103 (workshop theater).  Adam’s work is featured in the current gallery exhibit From the Faraway Nearby.

Adam Neese was raised in Grapevine, TX, halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth. His photographic works explore the relationship between memory and image; challenging the assumed notion of photograph as a factual document. Adam’s work has been exhibited throughout the US and abroad, including at The Rourke Art Museum (MN,) Louisiana Tech University, and De Fotohal (Amsterdam.) Adam holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Master of Fine Arts from The University of North Texas where he currently teaches photography.

More about his work can be seen here:

New York Trip tid bit

On 9-9 a meeting was held for those interested in the trip to New York for spring break. Not everything is set in stone but plans are being made. The Art Students will be traveling with the Theatre Students, the contact for Art is Chris Ireland.  The trip is set for March 11-15 of 2015. The cost is planned to stay between $1,000-$1,200 per person (plus extra$ for museum trips, food etc)!!!! This seems to be super reasonable for a great experience!!! A deposit is due by October 15 of $350. This is to lock in the plane tickets. Once everyone that would like to go turns in the deposit a better idea on the number of attendees will be determined so a hotel will be easier to set up. After Oct. 15 another meeting will be held to determine who is going and who may be bunking with who.

There was a pretty good turn out for the meeting but be sure and contact Ireland ( to be included on the e-mail list. Join us for this trip it is sure to be an amazing time!!!!
