Mandatory Meeting Overview!

Screen Shot 2014-09-02 at 12.54.21 PM

So we all got together last Wednesday 8/27 at 4:00pm for a ‘mandatory meeting’ for the art students……it was not nearly as frightening as it sounds…..so for those that were unable to attend here is some info for you. Dr. Davidian (our department head) introduced herself and all of our Art Professors:

Timothy Harding (harding@tarleton.edu)
Megan Ehrhart (ehrhart@tarleton.edu)
Knut Hydenieght (hybinette@tarleton.edu)
Mr. Davis (mdavis@tarleton.edu)
Chris Ireland (Ireland@tarleton.edu)

Other helpful names:
Sally Simpson- Lady in the front office that keeps the department going! (and she unlocks the mac lab in the mornings if you ask her nicely) Always have a smile on your face when you see her and tell her good morning!(ssimpson@tarleton.edu)

Lori Larue- Helpful lady that is responsible for the building. Your main contact if you need to be in the building after it closes. So find her, introduce yourself to her and she will help you with all your needs in the Fine Arts Building!(larue@tarleton.edu)

Jennifer Ryan- she is a student worker that helps with many things but one main thing is setting up the gallery! And she usually knows the up and up (or can tell you who to ask) on the goings on with fun stuff in the Art Department.

Brandie Smith- this one is me! I am the one putting some words on this blog and acting as another set of hands around the department.

Chris Ireland put together a lovely Handbook for the semester that includes what exhibits will be showing in the gallery, contact information and other important tips for students. Shoot him an e-mail and he will send you a copy.
We discussed a few things in the meeting. One thing that caught my attention was the word TRIP! That’s right, there are some cool trips that we need to start planning for. The first one coming up is set up for spring break to New York! Ireland and Knut are having a meeting on September 9, 2014 at 4:00pm to discuss their plans. So if you are interested in going COME TO THE MEETING! Another trip that is in the works involves Knut and Korea this next summer! Stop by Knut’s office for more info on that and check the blog and Facebook for updates concerning these trips.

Another topic that was brought up was TAS. TAS == Tarleton Art Society. TAS is a group of art students that try to get together and do fun things….and of course eat. The first meeting for this semester is set for September 9, 2012 at 12:10pm in room 162(there will be pizza). Come check out the first meeting because we need interested people to be active. TAS also started a YouTube channel and we are on Facebook look up Tarleton Art Society. So check us out and help make us better!

Dr. Davidian mentioned the Ultra Club. This is a booster club that we use to help drop cash for little adventures to museums and other places. So she brought up the idea that we can donate (to become members) individually or we can all pitch in a dollar or two and donate as a group with TAS. We should discuss this in the first meeting!
So, in the end we got some good info in the meeting and are excited for this semester!
