The Fort Worth Community Arts Center announces an open call for entries for the

2013 FWCAC 9 x 12 Works on Paper Show.


November 15, 2013: Postmark Deadline

December 6, 2013: Reception, 6 – 9PM

December 6 – 27, 2013: Exhibition

January 31, 2014: Checks & unsold works mailed


Entry fee is $5/piece; 6 entries per artist. Postmark deadline is November 15, 2013. All artwork will be for sale for $100 and the artist receives 75%. Unsold works sent with an appropriate size self-addressed STAMPED envelope (SASE) will be returned. Envelopes with metering or insufficient postage will not be returned. Name/s on envelope must match name/s on artwork. Unsold artworks and checks will be mailed to artists by January 31st, 2014.

Artworks may be any size, but they MUST fit in a 9” x 12” envelope to be mailed, although they may be folded, 3D or multi-part. More than one work may be mailed in each envelope. Acceptable mediums include unmatted, unframed photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, cast or folded paperworks, artist books or digital prints. All artwork sent should be original – no reproductions. Art not on/of paper or paper products will not be displayed (although other materials may be attached to the paper). No age or geographical restrictions.

All work will be shown.

Mark artwork  ON THE BACK with the artist/s’ name, address/email, title of work, date of work and medium if it is to be returned or sold. There is no other entry form – your artwork has all the information needed. CV/Bio/Artist statement can be sent and will be placed in a binder in alphabetical order.

Tarleton Study Abroad Fair – Thursday 11am-2pm


Come visit the booth of Professor Ireland at the Annual TSU Study Abroad fair this Thursday (9/26) from 11 am to 2 pm to learn about information on the Summer 2014 Art486 class Photography in South Africa.  Last summer we visited Kruger National Park and took the panorama drive through the Blyde River Canyon (as seen above).  Next year we are looking to expanding the trip to include locals such as Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

2D & 3D work according to the following categories:

■ Category 1: oil, watermedia on canvas/board, pastel

■ Category 2: watermedia on paper

■ Category 3: mixed media, collage, drawing

■ Category 4: hand-pulled graphics, photography, prints (no giclée prints)

■ Category 5: ceramic, textiles, fiber

■ Category 6: sculpture



All work must be original and completed in the last 24 months; no copies of paintings, reproductions, or photographs other than those taken by the artist


Please observe the following regulations:

■ framed and ready for secure installation – d-rings attached to the back and stretched with wire – no saw tooth hangers or uniframes (two pieces of plexiglas held together with clamps)

■ the use of plexiglas for works under “glass”

■ 40” maximum width dimension

■ 40 lbs. maximum weight

■ white, neutral, or black mats only

■ clean, gallery-wrapped canvas edges or framed

■ diptychs, triptychs, etc. constitute one piece and must be combined in one frame with 40” maximum width



Artists may submit up to three (3) images at a non-refundable fee of $20 for students, $25 for members, and $30 for non-members. Only one image per person may be selected for the exhibit. Entry fee MUST be mailed to VAST.

Mailed images may be in digital format on CD-ROM. All digital images must adhere to resolution and size requirements outlined in this Prospectus (see Digital Images).

500x art submission




500X is accepting submissions for the 2013 College Expo. If you are a university student in the state of Texas you are eligible to submit. You have until Sept. 27th… that’s only 4 days.. so get the details and get submitting!

Quick rundown:  For $30 you can submit up to 3 files. That means images, videos, audio files, etc. You will be notified if you are accepted by Oct. 4th. You will be responsible for delivery  of your work on Oct. 5th or the 6th. You work must be ready to hang. (Preferably with D-rings or wire.
