Public Relations Photography InternshipThis is a volunteer position.Applicant should be a junior or senior photography major that is capable in various environments with a camera and is proficient in Photoshop CS2 (RAW digital images and transparency scans) and possibly Adobe Illustrator. Please send with your resume 5 to 10 images; submitted electronically or with a self-addressed envelope. The photography intern will be assisting the department in photographing various events and subjects for both promotions and print, assisting the graphic designer in preparing images for publication, and participating on the Modern’s Blog as an author.This position is available Summer 2011. Additional Internship Responsibilities:Assist PR Manager on projects as assigned, including but not limited to:Managing News Clippings

  • Receiving and counting packages from the Clipping Bureau
  • Maintain a Clipping Center for Museum Staff to use
  • Provide summary to staff of news online
  • Maintain kitchen bulletin board notices

Research for a Media Buying Plan

  • Find costs, circulations, demographics, income level for demographics Assist in distribution and writing of press releases and communication material
  • Gather information and put it in manuscript format for weekly and monthly listings Keep up with ongoing filing.

Spring Break Art Camp InternshipIn the spring of 2011, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth will offer its popular Spring Break Art Camp. This program is designed for 3rd and 4th grade students from select Fort Worth Independent School District elementary schools. The entire Art Camp experience is fueled by the energetic dedication of four interns and two artist’s assistants. Those chosen for these positions will learn about the Modern’s permanent collection and special exhibition, Ed Ruscha: Road Tested, as well as develop a special relationship with campers, artists, and Museum staff. Responsibilities include: helping with campers’ group activities; facilitating looking and learning in the galleries, and in the studio during artmaking sessions; helping artists prepare materials; snack and meal set-up; and various jobs assigned throughout the week. Spring Break Art Camp intern and artist’s assistant opportunities are open to mature and serious students, ages 17 and up, with an interest in art and mentoring to young children. Education InternshipThis is a volunteer position.Description:The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Education Internship program provides students with practical work experience in museum education and gives a sense of administrative and creative responsibilities involved in education programming. Internships acquaint students with the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions. They provide an opportunity to work with people of all ages in various programs. Under the guidance of education staff, interns assist with routine administrative tasks from clerical to research as well as assist artists who lead the modern programs with hands on art activities in the studio and galleries. Internships are invaluable experiences due to the level of involvement and responsibility entrusted to each intern.Positions:The Education department offers internships each semester and through the summer in conjunction with various programs as needed.Qualifications:Positions are open to art and art history students. Teen-Artist Project InternshipsThe Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s education department is looking for two interns to work specifically with the Teen-Artist Project, a program designed for teenagers with a serious interest in art. TAP is a special, in-depth program for high school students who want to learn more about art with artists as teachers. The 2011-12 TAP program features two separate semesters and two interns are needed for each; the fall semester runs from August – December, 2011 and the spring semester from January – May, 2012. Classes meet in the museum studio on most Sundays from 2-5 pm and TAP interns are expected to attend every class meeting.Intern Responsibilities Include:

  • being available between 1:15 and 5:15 on Sundays
  • preparing sign-in sheet and keeping track of student attendance each week
  • helping locate and set-up supplies in the studio for each class
  • assisting each artist with projects and helping students throughout the class
  • making a supply list as needed for the purchase of materials
  • assisting with clean-up after each class
  • sending class correspondence as necessary
  • photo documenting the program with Museum equipment
  • managing the TAP blog
  • assisting in preparations for the yearly exhibition in May
  • being available on the weekends (during gallery hours) for the duration of the TAP exhibition

Teen-Artist Project intern opportunities are open to energetic and committed adults, age 18 and older (who have graduated from high school), with an interest in art and mentoring teens. An interview is required. Applications are currently being accepted for the fall semester; the application deadline is Friday, May 27.
